Jobs Assistant Manager – Business Advisory

Location: Auckland - Rodney & North Shore
Work Type: Permanent Full Time
Reference: SC13154

This is a leadership‑focused BAS role in a high-performing, people‑centred team led by an experienced partner. Two things define this opportunity: strong client focus and a team-based culture that backs your growth. If you’re ready to step up, guide others, and shape the way clients run their businesses, this role offers the platform to do exactly that... and much more..

About the role

This position sits within a high‑performing Business Advisory group based on Auckland’s North Shore. You’ll take ownership of client relationships, lead engagements, and support the development of junior team members. The work is varied, commercially interesting, and suited to someone who enjoys being both hands‑on and forward‑looking.

Your focus will span compliance, advisory, and leadership — with plenty of scope to influence how clients operate and how the team evolves.

Your key responsibilities

  • Guiding and developing junior accountants, ensuring they build confidence and capability
  • Leading client assignments and delivering clear, practical advice across accounting, tax, and business performance
  • Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact
  • Collaborating with colleagues to solve problems and create value for clients
  • Reviewing work, managing deadlines, and maintaining high standards across all deliverables
  • Contributing ideas that strengthen processes, team culture, and client outcomes

About you

You’ll thrive here if you enjoy working closely with clients, have solid BAS foundations, and are ready for more leadership responsibility. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience as a Senior Accountant or Assistant Manager within a CA or advisory environment
  • CA (or equivalent) qualification, or strong progress toward completion
  • Strong technical accounting and tax capability
  • Confidence managing client relationships and leading engagements
  • Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior team members
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach and interest in advisory projects
  • The ability to stay calm, organised, and effective in a busy environment

Why this opportunity stands out

You’ll join a supportive team that values initiative, clear communication, and continuous learning. Expect exposure to diverse clients, meaningful advisory work, and leaders who invest in your development. This is a role where you can grow your technical capability, expand your leadership skills, and make a tangible difference to clients and colleagues.

If you’re looking for a North Shore‑based BAS role with genuine progression and a strong team culture, this is one worth exploring.
