The opportunity

A well-established mid-tier advisory practice based in the city fringe area is seeking a Business Advisory Services Manager who thrives in a leadership environment. In this role you’ll work closely with a Partner, guide a capable team, and deliver high‑quality advisory outcomes for a diverse client base.

This is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, values strong client relationships, and wants to contribute meaningfully to a modern, people-focused CA environment.

 

Here is a bit more about what you will do in this role

  • Manage your own client portfolio, building trusted long-term relationships
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and tax returns, supporting and reviewing junior team output
  • Review sets of accounts to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional service delivery
  • Prepare and review IFRS financial statements, cashflow forecasts, and management reporting packs
  • Contribute to specialised advisory engagements including valuations, due diligence, and project-based work
  • Provide clear, commercially grounded advice on complex tax matters
  • Deliver compliance, tax planning and strategic business advisory solutions
  • Champion quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across the team

 

About You

You’re a confident BAS professional with strong technical capability and a genuine interest in developing people. You enjoy being part of a leadership group that values collaboration, accountability, and high standards.

You’ll bring:

  • Prior management experience within a NZ mid-tier or reputable boutique CA environment
  • Strong financial reporting capability, including IFRS
  • Advanced knowledge of Income Tax, GST, FBT and the NZ IRD system
  • A track record of coaching and developing team members
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage client relationships independently
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a calm, professional presence

Salary range: $130,000 –$150,000 per year, depending on experience
