About the Firm
Our client is a fast‑growing financial services business offering a fresh alternative to the traditional CA environment. Based in premium offices in Auckland’s CBD, the firm integrates accounting, lending, insurance and wider advisory services, giving clients a seamless, multidisciplinary experience.
The BAS team supports a substantial and varied client base — including property investors, high‑net‑worth individuals and SMEs typically ranging from $2m–$20m in turnover. With around 45 staff and a young, energetic culture, the environment is collaborative, commercially minded and geared toward continuous improvement.
As the team expands, the firm is seeking a motivated Intermediate BAS Accountant who wants strong technical development, meaningful client interaction and exposure to a broader commercial setting.
The Role
This position is ideal for an Intermediate Accountant who takes pride in delivering high‑quality compliance work, enjoys client engagement and is keen to contribute to the evolution of systems, processes and service delivery.
You’ll work closely with Senior Accountants, Managers and Directors, gaining hands‑on experience across compliance, client management and internal projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns, financial statements and GST returns to a high standard
- Review and check financial and tax documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Liaise directly with clients to understand needs and provide tailored support
- Assist with onboarding new clients and following up on incoming leads
- Contribute to special projects aimed at improving business processes and client experience
- Stay current with tax legislation, accounting standards and industry developments
- Collaborate with Directors and team members to meet workflow and service objectives
- Demonstrate initiative, ownership and proactive communication with clients
- Support the team with additional accounting and administrative tasks as required

About You
You will be a strong fit if you:
- Have 2–3 years’ experience in a public practice BAS environment
- Are progressing toward or have completed CA/CPA
- Possess solid knowledge of New Zealand tax law and accounting practices
- Have excellent attention to detail, communication and time management
- Enjoy client interaction and delivering high‑quality service
- Are proactive, organised and comfortable contributing beyond core compliance
- Want exposure to a modern, commercially driven environment outside traditional CA firms
