About the role
We’re recruiting for a fast‑growing professional services firm based in the wider Central Auckland/south-east city fringe offering a modern, supportive environment and a strong focus on quality client relationships.
In this key role, you will be part of a team of 15 accountants at various levels, working closely with SMEs across a diverse range of industries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on client interaction, solid technical work, and being part of a collaborative, high‑performing team.
Some of your key tasks and responsibilities:
- Preparing year‑end financial statements for a broad SME client base
- Managing periodic tax compliance across GST, FBT, provisional tax and income tax
- Delivering management reporting and insights to support client decision‑making
- Building strong, trusted client relationships as a key point of contact
- Providing guidance and support to junior and intermediate team members
- Working closely with senior leaders to maintain high technical standards
This is a client‑facing role where communication, relationship management and service delivery are just as important as technical capability.
Our client is looking for:
- A CA or CPA qualified professional
- With 4- 5 years’ experience in a New Zealand CA environment
- Strong technical grounding in BAS, tax compliance and financial reporting
- Excellent communication skills and proven client‑servicing experience
- Confidence engaging directly with SME business owners and managers
- A proactive, professional approach and commitment to high‑quality work
