We’re working with a substantial firm seeking a Senior BAS Accountant for their North Shore office. The role will suit a professional who enjoys working closely with clients and taking ownership of their numbers, systems, and reporting. This is a role for someone who likes variety, thinks commercially, and is comfortable moving between compliance, reporting, and practical advisory work.
The role
You’ll work with a mix of larger SME clients across different industries, helping them understand their financial position and make informed decisions. The work spans financial statements, tax returns, management reporting, budgeting, cashflow work, and identifying areas where clients can improve how they operate.
You’ll be part of a team that values clear thinking, accuracy, and straightforward communication. The environment will appeal to someone who is confident working independently when needed but also collaborates well and contributes to shared client outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and apply relevant accounting standards
- Produce management reports, budgets, and cashflow forecasts
- Prepare tax returns and stay current with legislative changes
- Spot issues early, offer practical solutions, and support clients with planning
- Work with various accounting systems and ensure filing requirements are met
About you
You’ll bring solid BAS experience and a practical mindset. The team is looking for someone who is comfortable with responsibility, communicates well with clients, and has a steady, reliable approach to deadlines and workflow.
- Around 3–4 years’ BAS experience
- Accounting/Finance degree
- CA or ACCA qualified (or close to it)
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence dealing with clients
- Commercially aware, organised, and attentive to detail
