Our client is a high-performing professional services organisation that operates in the same space as most main-stream chartered accounting firms. However, this is not a traditional accounting firm and has a different business model.

Due to sustained growth and an increasing demand for a client-experience management focused role,  the opportunity has arisen for an articulate professional to join one of our client's offices in New Zealand. 

The firm has a long and successful history and boasts a diverse SME client base. Their typical clients turnover $5million to $30million annually and operate across a broad spectrum of industry sectors, including manufacturing, construction, wholesale, distribution and various trades to name a few.  


About the role

This is a unique opportunity in the current job market that offers a rare chance to look at your career in the professional services sector from a different angle.

The main focus of the role can best be described as frontline client support. In this role, your primary focus will be on managing your clients’ experience and administrative coordination. You will support a Client Manager and a small Client Services team. 

The primary purpose of this role and the team in the context of our client’s operations is to create efficiency, improve accountability and drive quality delivery and completion. 


Duties & responsibilities

  • establish and manage relationships with key clients
  • understand clients’ expectations, help to respond to challenges and threats
  • identify opportunities for growth and business improvement
  • provide admin, tax and general accounts support for clients (including managing aspects of communication with IRD, Company’s office and other entities)
  • identify and propose processes and procedures for improvement
  • participate in scoping new assignments and preparation of client proposals
  • manage client experience during onboarding of new clients 

The successful candidate will

  • hold Accounting degree/tertiary (as a minimum) or CA qualifications
  • have previous experience in Chartered Accounting firm (ideally in a Business Service Accountant role)
  • have up-to-date knowledge of the current NZ statutory accounting and tax legislation
  • have previous experience (ideally in a BAS Accountant capacity) with accounts and tax returns  preparation
  • possess advanced systems skills and experience with Microsoft Office and Practice Management systems
    be articulate with proven interpersonal/client-facing skills and experience
  • be a proactive and ethical team player who works well in a professional services environment

Our ideal candidate is likely to be a Business Services Accountant working in a medium sized CA firm and looking for a role that will offer them a change of direction. A role that has strong client focus while providing the opportunity to move away from number-crunching. 



  • salary: $60,000 - $75,000
  • flexibility, remote working options
  • Hamilton or Taranaki based – your choice

  • regular internal and external training 

This role is part of a Taranaki-based team. However, our client is open to consider candidates who meet the search criteria for the role who are based in Hamilton. A remote working arrangement, while not ideal, may also be an option for this role.
