Our client is an established medium-sized commercial organisation in the property sector. The group employs approximately 50 staff across several entities and turns over $5 million annually. The organisational structure is flat and highly efficient. Due to team dynamics, the opportunity has arisen for a CA qualified company accountant to join the management team in a sole-charge role.

The role reports to the General & HR Manager with a  dotted reporting line to the owner of the business. The company accountant is responsible for the entire accounting and finance function in the business. The role can best be described as a mix of management reporting and financial accounting and requires excellent systems skills.

The main duties and responsibilities that define this hands-on role include but are not limited to:

  • monthly budget vs actual analysis of revenue and costs
  • reconciliation of rent and opex payments with lease documents and maintenance of tenancy schedules
  • liaising with project manager and quantity surveyor re a key property development project 
  • month-end reconciliation and workpapers
  • preparation of annual opex budget, working closely alongside the Director
  • quarterly management reporting - to the  management and the bank 
  • monthly cashflow and profit and loss forecast for the Group
  • maintenance of LVR and ICR schedule
  • reviewing and filing GST Returns for all 11 entities and manage the Group’s provisional income tax
  • payroll and payday filing for 4 companies
  • liaising with the Bank’s relationship manager and treasury department re Company Loans etc.
  • finalising annual insurance with the broker for approximately 20 properties owned by the Group
  • management of the accounts receivable and payable function including credit control
  • assisting the external accountant with preparation of financial statements for 11 entities 
  • managing inter-entity accounts 
  • responsible for the Group’s Xero and Re-Leased accounting systems
  •  maintaining and updating Fixed Asset Register for the Group; and
  • a wide range of other ad hoc tasks and projects, as and when required

This is a hands-on role that will suit a self-managed accounting professional able to work independently. We are looking for a friendly and level-headed individual able to handle short periods of high pressure in a calm and professional manner. 


Salary indication: $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience.
