Our client is a long‑established mid‑sized CA firm in Auckland known for its steady, relationship‑driven approach rather than flashy branding. Growth and team dynamics have created an opportunity for a strong senior accountant or an assistant manager to join their team in Auckland.

 

Role Structure & Key Responsibilities

  • - The current Manager in one of their team in Auckland has been promoted to Associate Director, creating space for a new Assistant Manager to join the firm.
    - You would work closely with the newly promoted Manager who providing crucial support on the client‑facing side.

  • The role blends:
    - Client management and relationship ownership
    - Team support, with reviewing and supervisory responsibilities introduced gradually once you’re settled
    - A mix of compliance and advisory work
    - Advisory exposure includes: Cashflow forecasting, share valuations, due diligence, financial modelling, tax advisory, and other project‑based work.

The exact scope will be tailored to the strengths, experience, and development goals of he appointed candidate.
The team size under this director is 7 people part of a larger partner group with multiple directors and a larger wider team of BAS professionals.  

 

KPI Expectations

  • - KPIs are agreed collaboratively and reviewed annually.
    - Standard indicators include:
    - KPIs are flexible and can be adjusted based on your experience.
    - For example, if reviewing experience is still developing, the firm will put structured support in place to help you step up, etc..
     

Growth & Career Pathway

  • - The firm is intentionally building a two‑manager structure within this team.
    - The Director is looking for someone who can grow into a manager role in the short to medium term.
    - Longer‑term, the firm expects to appoint another Director, creating a genuine pathway for someone with leadership aspirations
  • - Director aspirations are not strictly required but are very real if that is what you want to aim at in the longer term.
    - Importantly, progression is not dependent on vacancies! Advancement happens as soon as you’re ready.
     

Advisory / Compliance Mix

  • - There is no fixed split compliance/advisory in this role.
    - Work is allocated based on workflow, but at Assistant Manager level you can expect a significant advisory component, given the client‑facing nature and focus of the role.
    - Daily opportunities to provide advice, plus involvement in structured advisory projects.
     

Client Base

  • - Broad SME portfolio with turnovers between $10M and $100M.
    - Industries include construction, technology, retail, manufacturing, professional services, property, investment, and more.
    - Some larger clients require IFRS reporting, offering opportunities to build capability in this area. Some FIF work with some high-net-worth clients
     

Location 

  • - Based in Auckland CBD 
    - Close Public transport
    - Close to all enmities one would expect form a location in the heart of Auckland
