Sole-charge Finance & Commercial Manager   

Our client is a small multi-entity group with strong focus on commercial and residential land development. The company manages a multi-million-dollar portfolio of projects currently. 

Due to team dynamics and growth, the opportunity has arisen for an accomplished finance manager or a company accountant with strong commercial experience. 

The role has a dual accounting and commercial focus for the group and requires the services of an experienced professional who has worked in a similar environment. Experience in a sole-charge finance or commercial manager role within an SME/family-owned business would be highly relevant to this role. 

Experience with project accounting and more specifically with accounting for property and land development transactions will be particularly useful in this role. 

This is a hands-on role within a close-knit team that will suit a professional who can roll-up their sleeves and get on with a wide range of daily responsibilities - from daily bookkeeping tasks to budgeting and forecasting and preparation of draft year-end financial statements. 

In addition, this role has a significant commercial aspect including managing and reviewing settlement documents, communicating with banks, lawyers and other third parties and various other ad hoc administrative and commercial projects.

Some of the key duties and responsibilities in this role include but are not limited to:  

  • Bank reconciliations                                                                                    
  • End to end Accounts receivable                                                              
  • End to end Accounts payable                                                                  
  • Payroll                                                                                                            
  • GST / PAYE / FBT
  • Drawdown reporting for development companies                        
  • Manage bank accounts, all payments                                                  
  • Cash flow management                                                                              
  • Director personal payments
  • Balance sheet reconciliation
  • Budgets / Forecasting
  • WIP calculations for projects                                                                  
  • Project reporting as required                                                                    
  • Ad-hoc admin / finance request by Director
  • Rent reviews for commercial property                                                
  • Review settlement documents (GST treatment, accuracy)                      
  • Mange settlement processes, coordinate bank, lawyers            
  • Oversee network extensions, alterations for    
  • Year-end draft accounts, info pack      
  • Provisional tax estimates                                          
  • Experience with MYOB AccountRight and Microsoft Office for Mac would be advantageous.
