Overview
This mid‑sized firm is growing, and we are looking for an Intermediate BAS Accountant to join one of their Business Advisory Services teams in Auckland.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys complex work, thrives in a high‑standards environment, and wants to develop their NZ IFRS competencies.
You will be working closely with Senior Accountants, Senior Managers and and Partners in newly emerging team with focus on developing an IFRS specialist capability within the firm.
The role requires the talents of a business services professional able to deliver timely, accurate and proactive service in accordance with NZ IFRS and CA ANZ standards.
Your focus in this role
- Prepare and review financial statements in line with NZ IFRS, including complex entity structures
- Complete accounting and tax assignments efficiently, accurately and within budget
- Provide technical accounting guidance and help resolve complex reporting issues
- Support clients with forecasting, variance analysis, strategic planning sessions and wider advisory work
- Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to add value.
- Contribute to firm‑wide projects that improve systems, processes and client experience.
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and high professional standards at all times
What we are looking for
- Current NZ CA experience in Business Services (a must!), ideally within a mid-tier or similar firm
- Previous exposure to NZ IFRS (preferred but not a must) and interest to develop in this are long term
- Studying towards CA / CPA qualifications
- A hands‑on accountant who can work largely independently
- Strong workpaper discipline, technical accuracy and attention to detail
- Someone who enjoys client interaction and can spot opportunities to help them grow
- A team player who contributes positively to culture and supports junior staff
