Our client is a mid-sized chartered accounting firm with long and successful history in New Zealand. The firm offers a full range of client accounting, business advisory and tax services to SME businesses that operate across many industries.

Located in a vibrant Central Auckland location, the firm has established strong presence in several specialist areas in their segment. At the same time, it is fair to say their clients are as diverse as their growing team.

Due to current team dynamics, the opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tax Services Administrator to join the team in a sole-charge role supporting the entire tax service line in the practice and working across other teams in the firm.

The role requires the talents of a well-rounded tax administrator with excellent time management and organisational skills.

The purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day tax administration support function in the firm – working closely alongside the team.

Some of the key duties and responsibilities defining this role include but are not limited to:

  • Processing of Income Tax Assessments
  • Supporting the day-to-day needs of the Directors, the accounting team and clients
  • E-filing of Tax Returns
  • Preparation of Tax Reminders for all Provisional & Terminal Tax dates
  • Preparation of Income, GST, FBT, PAYE and other misc. tax returns
  • Completing annual IR23 declaration for clients using alternative tax codes and ensure all client information is up to date and accurate
  • Processing and managing the issuing of provisional, terminal, GST, CRS and other tax reminders in a timely manner
  • Updating Tax Management Software
  • Ensuring all client tax assessments have been correctly actioned
  • Processing trust account requests on a daily basis
  • Maintaining client tax accounts and ensuring they are aligned with Inland Revenue records
  • Following up any discrepancies and missed payments with IRD and clientd
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement and consistent operation of practice systems and processes
  • Identifying and executing methods, which resolve reconciliation issues, incomplete information, financial disclosure, taxation and accounting system needs
  • Working with the Accounting team to efficiently manage all client tax affairs

In addition to offering full support to/and being a link between the firm's teams and a sizeable portfolio of clients, a big key of this role will involve building positive working relationships and liaising with Inland Revenue on behalf of the team and client organisations.

This is a hands-role that requires previous experience in a similar role in a CA environment and sound understanding of the New Zealand Tax System. You may be a tax accountant or a bookkeeper working in a CA firm or tax administrator working in a similar role at Inland Revenue.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to think outside the square are essential for this role.

We are looking for a friendly team player who enjoys supporting a team in a professional services environment. While we invite anyone who matches the selection criteria to apply, this role may be more appealing to a mature individual happy to work in this role long term.
