This reputable medium-sized firm is one of our longest-standing clients in the chartered accounting sector in Auckland. The firm is well established and has recently entered a new and exciting stage of its development. 

The practice makes good use of technology and takes pride in the quality of their internal systems and work papers. Over the years we have appointed more than 20 professionals at various levels within their team. 

The firm is conveniently located in a prime Auckland CBD location, close to public transport, cafes, shops and other amenities. 

 

About the role

Due to sustained growth, a newly created opportunity has arisen for a strong intermediate to early senior business services accountant to join the firm.  

This is a client-facing role and the successful candidate will work with a wide range of SME clients, assisting the partners in the firm with some of the most complex assignments and managing the workflow for a group of key entities. 

Some of the key responsibilities defining this role will include but are not limited to:

  • preparation of year-end financial statements
  • periodic tax compliance
  • communicating complex accounting, business, and tax information to clients
  • develop and apply commercial understanding of businesses and key performance indicators
  • train and advise clients on accounting software packages
  • various ad hoc duties and responsibilities
     

Good working knowledge of Xero and Excel is essential.

 

About you

We are looking for an articulate business services accountant with client-facing experience. Naturally, you will have solid grounding in client accounting and tax compliance as you will be part of the wider business services/client accounting team in the firm. 

Our ideal candidate will have all or most of the following: 

  • CA or CPA qualifications, or
  • provisional CAANZ membership and close to completing your CA/CPA studies
  • a minimum of 2-3 years’ NZCA experience in business services
  • good working knowledge of Xero and Excel  
  • good up-to-date knowledge of NZ tax legislation
  • proven time management skills
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to build long standing relationships with clients
