Location: Auckland - Auckland CBD
Work Type: Permanent Full Time
Reference: SC12953
A substantial mid‑tier firm in the NZ CA landscape is looking for an experienced Senior BAS Accountant to join its Auckland CBD team. This is a role where you can bring your whole self to work, contribute to meaningful client outcomes, and continue building a career with real momentum.
About the role
You’ll join a well‑established advisory practice known for its commercial focus, technical capability, and genuinely down‑to‑earth culture. The team works with a broad mix of mid‑market businesses, multi‑entity groups, and growing organisations that value proactive, practical advice, not just compliance.
This position offers variety, complexity, and the chance to step into more advisory‑led work. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where people back each other, share knowledge, and enjoy what they do.
Your focus in this role
This is a hands‑on role with plenty of scope:
- Delivering budgeting, forecasting, dashboards, and other vCFO‑style reporting
- Preparing complex financial statements, including consolidations and compilations
- Producing monthly management reports, forecasts, and tax‑related documentation
- Supporting advisory engagements and contributing insights that help clients make better decisions
- Building strong client relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive, high‑performing team culture
About the successful candidate
You’re commercially aware, organised, and ready for a role that stretches your capability.
- 3+ years’ experience in a New Zealand CA environment
- Strong Excel skills (modelling, analysis, reporting)
- Confident with Xero; MYOB or other systems experience is a bonus
- Progressing toward or holding CA/CPA
- High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving ability
- Clear communicator who enjoys working collaboratively
- Relevant accounting degree
- NZ working rights
About the firm
This is a mid‑tier environment where people genuinely enjoy working together. Leaders are approachable, development is taken seriously, and success is recognised. You’ll have the freedom to grow at your own pace while being supported by experienced practitioners.
Expect:
- A friendly, inclusive team culture
- Real recognition and opportunities to progress
- Ongoing learning and professional development
- A workplace where you can thrive, not just get through the week
Benefits
You’ll enjoy a range of benefits designed to support wellbeing, balance, and professional growth, including flexible working options, additional leave provisions, wellness support, professional membership fees, modern tech, and a social, supportive team environment.
